Son Set Ministries / The Refuge
The Refuge, located in Ayden NC, is now a sanctioned (approved) outreach mission of SUMC. The Refuge is about: summer camps, retreats, prison ministry, mission teams, youth-at-risk programs, inner city outreach, Christian music programs, and “Serving Christ…Bringing Hope.” Our Mission & Outreach will be looking to organize 3 or 4 weekend work teams and one five-day work team once each year to participate in the Summer Build Program. While at the Refuge working, teams will also participate in nightly praise and devotion. We would like to see UMYF, UMM, and UMW take advantage of The Refuge for weekend retreats, summer camps, and work teams. To volunteer or to learn more, contact Chip Olmstead or Team Leader, John Gott. Also, visit The Refuge website for lots of information and pictures.

Winter Workdays
Winter workdays are always great fun and a wonderful way to get out of the house, be active and enjoy great fellowship. This year, we are expanding on the past work days and planning on having three work weekends. Groups numbering as many as 24 can now be accommodated. We would love for you or a group from your church to join us as we fellowship, work, and worship together at The Refuge. We have several great projects that require all skill levels and will provide a great sense of accomplishment when finished. Some of our projects will include work on "The Hiding Place," The Pavilion, trail improvements, and more. Work will include putting in insulation, framing, indoor siding, building bridge extensions, and small stump removal on trails.
Winter workdays are finished for now. Below are some pictures of the group. Click on picture to see a larger version.

Several men from SUMC worked during the weekend of February 26, 2011.
