Volunteers are desperately needed at the thrift store, Hem of His Garment (The Hem).

The Hem provides valuable services to the community, especially to those who are hurting and in need. Their special emphasis is on giving to the children and elderly in our community.

The Hem accepts donations of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, accessories, furniture, appliances, books, toys, home goods and other various items. More than ever, people right here in Swansboro and the surrounding areas are in desperate need of these items. Donations are always welcome, but help is needed even more. You can help by offering your time as a volunteer at The Hem.

Cashiers are badly needed, and there are many other jobs, from delivering meals to shut-ins to the pick-up of items, sorting, pricing or stocking, etc. The Hem operates with a terrific group of good Christian people with big hearts and a willingness to serve our Lord.

Anyone who is willing to volunteer—even just a few hours a week—should contact The Hem at 910.326.1811. A meeting will be scheduled to determine your interests and the best fit for you. You will then receive training and supervision in your new volunteer position.

The joy of giving to others is a complete blessing in itself. Please consider giving of your most precious asset—your time to your neighbors—and in service for our Lord.

The Hem, located at 724 West Corbett Avenue, Swansboro, NC, is open every Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
