The Second Sunday Food Collections continue to be an important SUMC mission effort. We need nutritious food donations, easy to open, light & small enough to fit in the children’s backpacks. Some examples are Peanut Butter (plastic jars), small boxes of Raisins, 1 Cup servings Mott’s Apple Sauce, Kraft Easy Mac (macaroni/cheese), packets Quaker Instant Grits or Quaker Oatmeal, Juice boxes (Apple and Eve), Snack Pack Puddings, Lance Style Crackers (whole Grain). The staff at the school shares its appreciation for our faithful mission effort and reminds us that, when children are well-fed, they’re happier, healthier and better students. These collections are coordinated by Manna, the hunger awareness activities of our Church and Society committee. “Manna” is also seeking volunteers for our increasingly busy mission work. Call Susan Del Grande (910.326.3316) or Jim Brewster (910.478.9727).
Old jewelry and bead donations needed by Mary Weeks/Creekside UMW Circle to benefit Haiti. We are in need of many items for crafts. Any old or broken beaded jewelry...leave them in the jewelry box under the table by the church office. We also need volunteers/crafters to help make bracelets and jewelry items. We meet every Monday at 10:00 am at the Barnum House (by our lower parking lot). If you like to sew, we will be sewing dresses for little girls and shorts for little boys in Haiti, at the same time and place.
Make a place in your life for God’s missions. There is something for everyone to do! Contact the Sewing Sisters- Lynn Rouse at 910.326.4095, UMW-Rosemary Whaley at 252.354.3991 or SUMC Haiti Mission-Lisa Potts at 910.340.6607 for more information.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with the many activities and missions in our church. If you would like to help, please let us know by calling the church office at 910.326.4822 or contacting any of the members involved in the area in which you are interested. Not sure what might interest you? Here's a Serving Survey that may help. Just complete it and drop it off at the church or mail it to SUMC, 665 West Corbett Ave., Swansboro, NC 28584. There is also a place on the Online Church Directory to indicate your participation and/or interest in church organizational activities.
