December 1, 2010 ~ "The Gabriel Project," as part of our New Bern district's Operation Compassion, was started in our area to help military women during their
pregnancy while their husbands are deployed. Local churches work one on
one with these young moms to help with any needs that arise while their
husbands are away. Diane LeBlanc, pastor at Maysville UMC, gave her
witness and message about how you and I can be "angels of mercy" to
young moms who are far away from their homes and families. Merle Epperson and Suzy Zemlick led us in singing carols.

August 4, 2010 ~ Guest speakers from Carteret Correctional Facility and our Disciple Bible Outreach Ministry (DBOM) shared their testimonies. One of our first DBOM graduates, Johnathan Stevenson, aka "Smoke," performed his instrumental and vocal music for us again... and gave us an update on his life outside of prison. Those who witnessed Smoke's spirit in June, 2009 and those who hadn't previously met him were amazed at the transformation that Jesus can make in a life.
