Golden Members
Our "golden" members are those of our church who are no longer able to attend services and are generally home-bound. There are currently about thirty "golden" members of Swansboro United Methodist Church.
SUMC established a team to help these "golden" members continue to be a part of our church community. Team members give Christian love to our "golden" members through home visits every 4-6 weeks. The goal of these 20 to 30 (or more) minutes visits is to spend time talking and praying and maybe walking or playing a game or working on a craft project.
Team members are especially happy to acknowledge birthdays and Christmas with small gifts and to send cards throughout the year to let our "golden's" know we love and remember them.
Team members find this program rewarding for themselves as well as the "golden" members.

On
July 14, 2011, Pastor Ed Gunter, Angie Cooper, Dave Johnson and Bill
Baker played for an outing in Jacksonville at Liberty Commons where a
group of 28 residents, including several members of SUMC, participated
in the sing-a-long and enjoyed the show. Musicians from SUMC have been
playing about once a month at Elder Care facilities for over five years.
