Family Promise of Onslow County

The Interfaith Hospitality Network cooperative program among area Churches is a national program to house and help homeless families with children. SUMC plans to participate in the Onslow County network by housing and feeding a few (4 or 5) families about one week per quarter. (Northwoods UMC in Jacksonville initiated discussions with area Churches and formed planning committees.)

Boxers and Briefs
During the month of October 2011, SUMC partnered with other Family Promise Churches to obtain underclothes for homeless and indigent military veterans. The items collected will be distributed to the veterans during the Onslow County Joblink and United Way sponsored Veterans’ Stand Down to be held in February 2012. We collected NEW, men’s and women’s underwear.
